Smoant-Charon TS 218 Touch Screen Box Mod
The Smoant Charon TS 218W Touch Screen Box Mod presents the first touch-screen device from the makers of the Battlestar and the Charon TC, deploying a beautiful highly-responsive screen with user-friendly UI to pair with the advanced chipset from the original Charon 218W. The Charon TS 218 is optimally constructed for ergonomic form factor, utilizing a lightweight yet durable alloy chassis within a soft contour chassis that fits comfortably in-hand while offering a stunning visual prowess. My Take: These are NICE! I'm using this one a lot... It's extremely well built, tear downs confirm that. Typical Smoant quality we've come to expect. We're spoiled by it for the price point and I love it! . I have confirmation from reviewers who are spending some real time with the mod first, that this one is a winner thus far. I'll have my thoughts soon. I can tell for sure that this is a nice device that just oozes quality the moment you lay eyes on it. It's no WYE... but the weight is appreciated... almost like the sound of a nice car door shutting. It feels of quality. I also see it as having a purpose. This mod is about 31mm I believe... hardly slim, but not large. The screen is extremely durable re-inforced glass, but where I'm going is that the weight of this mod is a positive, as you aren't likely to knock it over easily. I like these things.
The navigation on this mod is great! The touchscreen has been both implemented well in quality of the display, and the responsiveness. I've had iPhones since the 3GS, and I don't wanna claim this to be as responsive, it's really damn close. It's simpler, so the firmware is just excellent in handling the speed and menu systems. It's really a pleasure. Setting up a Curve has never been easier on any mod I've encountered. Being able to slide the increments is great, you can go forwards and backwards in case you make a mistake, and you can test your curve prior to setting it. That's great to let you make changes without re entering the menu. Though, it's a matter of seconds to get back.
No Color display... no LED's... but that's not this mod. The screen isn't quite monochrome to my eyes and almost has a Matrix type of theme. I like it, and I dig LED's, and Color, lol. So trivial, but I do. I'm not left wanting any of that here. I need more time, but this one is taking my palm up. So many new devices, so many opinions to add. I truly try to "keep it real" with you all. This mod is not just excellent in function, but the price premium is well worth it, and I'd seriously think about going with one of these over the Charon. Both are great!
